Our Wild Local Space (OWLS)
A Hidden oasis that had been neglected for far too long...
In early 2024 members of the Heybridge & Maldon Climate Action Partnership approached Moat Housing who own the land at the rear of the properties in Washington Close. The land is an important pocket of green space and has great potential.
One year later the site is accessible and local residents are able to access the site and listen to the bird song and witness the site coming to life with newly planted blubs and new paths. In January 21 fruit trees were planted across the site along with an edible hedge that will will provide food for humans and wildlife.
The Wild Space is a community foraging garden and although you may find members of the team on site working on projects throughout the week, we all gather on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10-12 noon.
